Community Outreach Program
The Community Outreach Program is designed to provide local residents with the information and resources necessary to combat colon cancer. Utilizing print advertising, posters, brochures, community meetings and health screenings, the Meadowbrook Endoscopy Center is fulfilling its mission of making colon cancer screening available to all residents even those who have no medical insurance.
Our message is simple – Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States…with 150,000 cases diagnosed each year….and 50,000 lives lost!
Colorectal cancer is highly preventable and can be detected by testing even before there are symptoms. Everyone over 50 and those with a family history should be screened and tested to help save their lives. That family history includes colorectal cancer, polyps, rectal bleeding or long standing inflammatory bowel disease such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s Disease.
The physicians and staff of Meadowbrook pride themselves in providing an atmosphere that is patient focused and community oriented, offering high-quality, cost effective alternatives for people who would otherwise have to enter a hospital for Gastrointestinal endoscopies. In an effort to overcome the economic barrier to healthcare, Meadowbrook Endoscopy Center is offering education, screening, and treatment to those identified through the Outreach Program as having no insurance and therefore are unable to pay for the procedure. Meadowbrook will provide these services free of charge!
